The exterior of the shell is a 35 gram multidirectional carbon fiber shell that surrounds a 15 gram bi-directional carbon and Kevlar weave interior "hammock." Additionally, the Alainte's profile is a more traditional "saddle shape" that dips in the middle for pressure relief. The rails are made of a material called K:ium, which is eight percent lighter than titanium. The K:ium rails have better vibration-absorption qualities and more corrosion resistance than titanium.
